Thank you!
Thank you to our Members!
Nobles Cooperative Electric would like to extend a sincere thank you to our members in Wilmont, Reading, and Lismore for your patience and understanding during the recent planned power outages needed for a major upgrade to the system. We know that any disruption is inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your cooperation as our crews worked on the infrastructure upgrade that will benefit your communities for years to come.
This project has been years in the making and marks a significant investment in the reliability and efficiency of our electric system.
A key part of the project was retiring the original substation near Wilmont—an aging structure that had served since the 1930s. Now, we built a modern substation that will enhance service reliability.
We also upgraded Lismore’s system voltage from 2,400 to 7,200 volts, aligning it with the standard across our service area. This will help deliver more stable and efficient power to homes and businesses.
While these specific upgrades primarily benefit Wilmont, Reading, and Lismore, all Nobles Cooperative Electric members will benefit from a more reliable substation on our system. These improvements give us an additional looped distribution system, allowing electricity to be rerouted during outages—reducing downtime across our service area.
Completing the most recent transition required our crews to manually shut down and reset many of the individual transformers in those towns - a very detailed process. Thanks to their hard work and your patience, the project was completed on schedule.
We’re proud to invest in the strength of our system and the future of the communities we serve. Thank you again for your patience and support. Together, we’re powering a stronger future.
