It’s Fair Week in Murray County. For generations, the Murray County Fair has been a place where our community comes together — and some of those traditions have now been going strong for more than a century. As summer begins to wind down, fair week is a chance to celebrate the people who make those traditions possible. We’re especially proud to support the 4-H and FFA members, open class exhibitors, families and volunteers who have spent countless hours raising animals, working on projects, preparing exhibits and getting everything ready for fair week. A lot has changed over the years, but that sense of community, tradition, hard work and supporting local hasn’t. As Nobles Cooperative Electric celebrates our own 90 years in 2026, we’re grateful to be part of communities where traditions like these continue from one generation to the next. Enjoy the animals, exhibits, food, entertainment and time spent with friends and neighbors. Here’s to history, tradition and strong communities. Enjoy the fair! Our crews are honored to be part of today’s escort welcoming the Remembering Our Fallen Tribute to Slayton. The tribute will travel through Fulda around noon today before making its way to Slayton. It will be on display August 11–16 at the Murray County Fair, on the soccer fields west of the fairgrounds off Juniper Street. The Remembering Our Fallen Tribute includes 34 towers featuring the names and photographs of 5,500 service members who lost their lives during the Global War on Terror following September 11, 2001 — including approximately 109 Minnesotans. This year makes its visit especially meaningful. As our nation celebrates its 250th birthday and we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, the tribute reminds us of the men and women who served, sacrificed and never came home. After September 11, 2026, the display will be retired from touring, making the opportunity to have it here in southwest Minnesota even more special. Behind every photograph is a person, a family and a story that deserves to be remembered. We remember. We honor. We are grateful.
