Congratulations to Jael Lopez Garcia, an Edgerton High School student who represented Nobles Cooperative Electric at the 2026 National Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. She was there June 14-17, 2026. Youth Tour is more than a trip—it's an opportunity for young leaders to learn about our nation's history, government, and the power of community involvement. Throughout the week, Jael joined students from across the country, visited some of Washington's most iconic landmarks, and experienced lessons that can't be learned from a textbook alone. We are incredibly proud of Jael for representing our cooperative, her school, and southwest Minnesota so well. Thank you, Jael, for being an outstanding ambassador for our community. Your future is bright, and we can't wait to see where your leadership journey takes you next!
Power comes in many forms! Long before electric lines stretched across rural Minnesota, horsepower helped build our farms, communities, and way of life. The strength and reliability of draft horses played an important role in the history of agriculture and helped shape the communities we serve today. That's one reason Nobles Cooperative Electric is proud to sponsor the Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show, one of southwest Minnesota's summer events. Experience power in a different sense as teams from around the country bring their magnificent draft horses to Slayton for a weekend of competition, tradition, and family entertainment. There's nothing quite like feeling the thunder of a six-horse hitch as these incredible animals showcase their strength, teamwork, and precision in the ring. From classic hitch classes and farm team races to obstacle courses the show offers something for horse enthusiasts, history buffs, and families alike. If you've never experienced a draft horse show, this is a great opportunity to see some of the finest Belgian, Percheron, Clydesdale, and Shire horses in action right here in southwest Minnesota...at the Murray County Fairgrounds.
Nothing says summer in southwest Minnesota quite like a parade! A big thank you to Line Foreman Rick Leebens for driving one of our Nobles Cooperative Electric trucks through the Fulda Wood Duck Festival Parade, and to Line Superintendent Cody Hansen for helping spread some smiles (and candy!) along the route with his trusted sidekick, Titan. Events like the Wood Duck Festival are a great reminder that cooperatives are about more than electricity — they’re about community. We love the opportunity to connect with our members, neighbors, and friends outside of our everyday work. Thanks, Fulda, for a great parade and a great celebration!
Looking for a new way to explore southwest Minnesota this summer? Our latest blog takes a closer look at the growing popularity of e-bikes and how they can help you ride farther, tackle hills more easily, and enjoy the outdoors in a whole new way. Want to try one before you buy one? Be sure to check out @End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum in Currie. They offer e-bike rentals right at the trailhead of the Casey Jones State Trail, making it easy to experience the fun and convenience of electric-assisted cycling for yourself. Lightning is incredibly powerful. It doesn't have to directly strike your home, farm, or a power line to cause damage. Even a nearby strike can create electrical surges strong enough to affect appliances, electronics, HVAC systems, sump pumps, and other equipment. While Nobles Cooperative Electric works hard to provide safe, reliable service and restore outages, lightning and severe weather are forces of nature that no one can control. That's why we encourage our members to take a few minutes to visit with their insurance agent and review their coverage for lightning and power surge damage. Understanding your policy before a storm happens can provide valuable peace of mind when the weather turns severe. We care about the safety and well-being of our members. A little preparation today can help protect what matters most tomorrow. Stay safe this storm season.
