Nobles Cooperative Electric continues its commitment to the community through the Operation Round Up program. This initiative allows members to round up their monthly electric bills, with the accumulated funds distributed to local organizations.

In the recent funding cycle, $21,000 was awarded to support a diverse range of projects.

Investing in Youth and Education

  • Adrian Independent School District: A $1,700 grant will support the replacement of the high school gymnasium's sound system, which will enhance events and performances.
  • Beaver Creek Archery: $500 was allocated to purchase new bows, arrows, and supplies for arrow repair, benefiting the youth league.
  • Buffalo Ridge Young Marines: $800 will assist in minimizing costs for low-income families participating in the program.
  • Ellsworth Public School: $850 will go towards purchasing dumbbells, kettlebells, rubber bumper plates, a dumbbell shelf, floor mats, and a gym band.
  • Fulda Elementary Library: We granted $1,350 to purchase books for the library.
  • Murray County Central Football: $1,500 will assist in replacing team jerseys and pants, and purchasing new safety equipment.
  • Murray County Central Little Rebels Preschool: We sent $600 to update and enhance materials in the Boost Up room.
  • SW Foundation for Innovation in Education: $1,000 will support student enrichment programs at SWWC.

Supporting Community and Culture

  • City of Chandler: $950 will support the purchase of three flower planters and two Laguna benches.
  • Cultural Awareness Organization/International Festival: $650 was awarded to support children's activities at the festival.
  • Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show: $750 will help cover the costs of implementing new safety policies.
  • Nobles County Historical Society: $1,100 will support the digitization of early Murray County newspaper records to make them freely available online.
  • Nobles County Historical Society: We funded $500 to help reproduce images from the Daily Globe photo archives for a historical exhibit.

Enhancing Community Well-being

  • Brewster Senior Dining: $1,500 will help cover the costs of meal transportation from Lakefield to Brewster, ensuring hot meals for seniors and homebound individuals.
  • Murray County Early Childhood: $900 will be used to replenish supplies for programming, including tote bags, thank you cards, and construction hats.
  • Nobles County Community Services: $900 will support an appreciation event for daycare and foster care providers.
  • University of Minnesota Extension: $950 will support gardening projects by funding tools, plants, seeds, compost, and fences.
  • Worthington Area YMCA: $1,400 will support the purchase of footballs, volleyballs, basketballs, soccer balls, and a storage unit.

Providing Comfort and Care

  • Chandler Area Quilters: $350 was granted to purchase batting for quilts. The quilts are made for various charities.
  • Christ Lutheran Church: Funds of $350 will be used to purchase fabric and fiber for making homemade quilts to be given to charities.
  • IHM Quilting Group: $350 will be used for the purchase of batting for quilting.
  • Lake Sarah Quilters of Garvin: $350 was allocated for batting, fabric, etc., to make quilts for those in need.
  • Sillerud Lutheran Church Quilters: They will receive $350 for batting and backing fabric for quilts for charities.
  • Westminister Presbyterian Piecemakers: $350 will enable the creation of small quilts for children in need.
  • Nobles County Toys for Tots: $1,000 will directly support the purchase of new, unwrapped toys for children in Nobles County.
