Why This Matters
Communication is one of our most important responsibilities. By opening the door wider and sharing more of what we do, we hope to strengthen trust, increase transparency, and create a place where members feel informed and valued.
Today we are going to leave you with three tips to save on your electric bill this winter
- Do you forget to turn off your lights and electronics? Which items could be unplugged when not in use? Many electronics continue to draw power even when they are switched off, which could add an extra 5 to 10 percent to your monthly electric bill.
- Could you complete household activities that use large amounts of energy—such as laundry and dishwashing at night? Using electricity at night can help your cooperative by reducing peak energy demand that our wholesale power supplier bills us, and is reflected in your rates. By shifting your energy to off-peak times, you can contribute to a more efficient energy system.
- How can you adjust your heating to save energy? Being smart about how you control your temperature settings will help you save money. You can save as much as 10% per year on heating and cooling by turning your temperature down 7 to 10 degrees for 8 hours a day in the fall and winter, turning it up in the spring and summer.
