Looking Ahead, Staying Rooted in Community

As you know, we have officially moved into our new headquarters in Slayton, and our Worthington office is now closed. While the office is no longer open to the public, our lineworkers will continue to be based out of Worthington and Slayton to ensure timely and reliable service throughout our area. Our drop boxes in both locations are operational and we are only a phone call away should you need assistance.

This transition has been several years in the making, and the decision was made with careful consideration. Our Worthington facility has served us well, but it no longer meets the demands of a modern cooperative office. Space constraints—particularly for meetings—and the aging building prompted us to seek a more functional environment. Looking ahead, it became evident that investing in a space with updated technology, enhanced security, and improved compliance capabilities was vital to better serve our team and our members.

What does the future hold for our Worthington building? We are actively working to repurpose the space to support a much-needed community service. Our aim is to address the critical shortage of daycare options in the Worthington and Nobles County area. Even before we decided to move to Slayton, we were approached about how our building could be ideal for this purpose. While there are grant opportunities available to assist with the project, it will require time, planning, and patience. We are currently navigating the necessary paperwork and discussions to advance this vision.

Speaking of community, we hope you’ve spotted us around this summer! We’ve enjoyed participating in the Lismore, Fulda, and Ellsworth parades, and were proud to host the Ellsworth Pedal Pull event too! We’re also gearing up to host another pedal pull at the Adrian Ribs and Rims event. Plus, you can find us at the Murray County Fair and Worthington’s Turkey Day Events and Parade.

We would also like to invite you to an Open House on Thursday, August 14, at our new Slayton facility. Feel free to drop by anytime between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. for a tour and a chat with our team. All members who attend and check in will receive a $5 coupon redeemable at select food vendors at the Murray County Fair, which will take place the same week. It’s our way of expressing gratitude and supporting our vibrant local community and our local businesses at the same time.

Another significant event on the horizon is Farmfest, scheduled for August 5–7 in Morgan. Nobles Cooperative Electric is proud to join other electric cooperatives from across Minnesota at this statewide event. The Minnesota cooperatives will staff an informational booth to discuss the energy industry, and other current happenings around the state. Don’t forget to bring the coupon included in this newsletter and drop it off at the booth for a chance to win exciting prizes!

Finally, mark your calendars—our Grab-n-Go Co-op Month events are returning in October! These events were incredibly popular over the past few years, and we’re excited to bring them back as another opportunity to connect with our members.

Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement. Whether at a parade, a local event, or a visit to the office, we look forward to connecting with you soon.
