A power cost adjustment (PCA) is a line item on electric bills that can be a charge or a credit. When the cost to produce power is higher than expected a charge is used to recover the added costs. When the cost to produce power is lower than expected a credit is applied to pass along those savings to members.

YOUR ELECTRIC BILL LOOKS A LITTLE DIFFERENT NOW

The design of your monthly electric bill has been updated with a new look. The new design will help you monitor your electric demand/usage each month, view usage comparisons and receive important messages from Nobles Cooperative Electric.

WHAT IS THE DEMAND CHARGE LINE ITEM ON MY BILL?

Residential and general service members are not currently charged for electric demand, but about one-quarter of the cooperative’s power supply costs are based on demand. Nobles Cooperative Electric believes that knowledge is power and we want to give you more information on how your electric demand impacts the system, in turn affecting the cost for all members. The newly designed bills will now list your electric demand as a line item.

In other words, electrical demand is like...sports!

Sports stadiums are designed to accommodate thousands of fans for just a few hours, leaving them mostly empty for the rest of the year. Despite this, the seats, restrooms, concession stands and parking spaces remain in place. In this analogy, peak demand will only occur for a few hours a year. The electric grid, like the stadium, needs to have the infrastructure in place to meet that demand, even though it won't be used at full capacity all the time.

Just as a stadium needs to be ready for the "demand" of fans buying tickets to a game, the electric grid needs to be ready for the "demand" of people turning on their air conditioners on a hot summer day or their heaters on a cold winter night. This is why we construct the infrastructure to meet the highest level of electricity consumption, even though members may not utilize that maximum capacity every single day throughout the year. This capacity is essential to ensure that the grid can meet the needs of everyone.

Quick Tips

Account Number (Member Number): When entering this number, please avoid using any decimal points. For instance, if your number is 12345.00, you should input it as 1234500 in the new system—whether by phone or online.

Auto Pay: Please be aware that Auto Pay will not automatically make your payment during the first month you set it up. It will take effect in the next billing cycle (30 days or the following calendar month) after your initial registration. In the meantime, you may need to pay your outstanding balance using an alternative payment method until Auto Pay is activated in the next billing cycle.

Payments Over the Phone (855-799-1641): The phone system does not accept decimal points. For example, if you are entering a payment of $129.89, you will need to input 12989 when prompted for the payment amount. The system will then confirm that you are making a payment of $129.89.

One Time Oneline Payment Option

To make a one-time payment on your account, click this button. You will need your Account/Member number for this process. Please note that this is exclusively a one-time payment option for your bill.

Although this option is available, we strongly recommend creating a SmartHub Account for greater convenience. Additionally, consider setting up AutoPay and exploring the other features that SmartHub offers.
